It's Esther Day, Not Easter Day ...

Esther, seated at the centre, cause she's the centre of our attention, y'all!!

HAPPY ESTHER DAY!!

I know the title of this post is lame but what can you expect from lameleftygirl, right?

Today, 14th September is a very special day because it's the birthday of my special friend, Miss Esther Sia. ;) Though I just met her during form 6, I knew that she's a friend whom you can count on all your life. I had negative impressions on form 6 at first, but when Esther appeared, she just changed my form 6 years, and not me alone, but the whole class. ;)

HOW SHE HAD BEEN A SIGNIFICANT FIGURE DURING MY FORM 6 YEARS:

1)She had made my Form 6 life a cheerful one, besides being a great mentor. ;) She was very spontaneous in joking, and she had great social skills. She could make a lot of people felt close to her.

2) She made people around her laugh, and even when she was supposed to be sad, she could made people around her happy. She didn't want people to be sad for her sake.

3) She was an independent figure who inspired us, the rest of her classmates. Coming all the way from Miri to Sibu to further her Form 6 studies, and there were many obstacles, especially involving her needed to undergo surgery. But since she's Esther, she's that strong lovable cheerful girl whom we would worry for but she wouldn't want us to worry for her.

4) She's smart and witty, but not snobbish or kiasu. She's just the person who studies and play. Balanced, we called it.

5) She's a fast learner. She could learn Korean just by watching Korean series. She could speak Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Foochow, Hokkien, Korean, and even God knows what because she was sporting and exposed to a variety of cultures.

So dear Esther, since you are finally entering this legal age, I hope that you will enjoy your birthday to the fullest and have a great year ahead of you~! Though we seldom communicate now except through facebook or occasional smses, that doesn't mean I have forgotten you. Nobody could forget you, Esther for you have been such a significant character in most people's lives. Last but not least, may all your wishes come true.. ;)

Just a Summary..

[Interframe: The theme of the day is not based on denotation only, but connotation. ]

Manic Monday

It was a holiday on Monday. Well, it wasn't really a holiday since there was a test on Tuesday, so Monday was dedicated to studying (ahem) but actually me and Hawa ended up watching NurKasih instead. It was a really nice drama, I can declare it as Malaysia's best series so far without much doubt. It's about a Muslim girl who had gone through a lot in her life as a faithful wife, a dedicated student and a career woman. How she dealt with all the obstacles was something to be admired. I loved the way the actress carrying the main role as she fitted the role nicely, if Waheeda was to replace her, I would not watch that series, not that I have something against Waheeda but her face just did not fit the characteristics of the main role, a soft but tough woman, patience, loving and faithful. I got a copy of the series from Hawa and I could not wait to check them out after, urm, the ICG Camp. ;)

Panic Tuesday

The HET213 test day. Woke up at 3 am in the morning, was trying really hard to focus on studying the Biber reference book but I ended up playing facebook instead, fooling around giving and replying merapu picture comments. When I finally sat inside the lecture hall to sit for the test, I was cursing myself when I saw the questions. I focused on the wrong part while studying. Cis~! Huhu. So, I did what I do best, merapu and menggoreng. And I was kind of emo that day because I felt so unproductive. Wonder what my result will be like, eh? Hopefully I would not fail. *cross fingers* But when I got back to my hostel, I found my comfort zone, facebook. I just knew that I couldn't live without logging on to facebook.

Wet Wednesday

I bought a nice dress/blouse from The Manni-queen and was really satisfied with it. Wohoo~! Then, during the evening, I joined the buka puasa dinner hosted by USM with a Sultan (from Perlis if not mistaken) and too bad that my CUS girlfriends could not make it. I was the only girl representative from CUS alongside with Arthur and Eduard and I sat with the Persatuan Kristian Agape (PKA) people and thank God I saw some familiar faces there. ;) I wasn't wearing formal because I just finished my class at 6.30pm, and if I knew this was not compulsory though we already sent in our names, I won't be that skema to join and went to shower that time instead because I've wore the shirt all day long, but at least, free dinner right?

And guess what, me and Hawa went for our tutorial but we just couldn't find the actual tutorial room. Gosh, we really wanted to attend this tutorial but fate was sabotaging us. We already asked Miss Hiba about the venue and she told us the same time, same place, but I guess maybe the same that she referred to was not the same that we thought. Hehe. Miscommunication, I think. Finally, we ended up online at the library's computer room.

Thunder Thursday

My first class in the morning was the Creative Writing class and today we were going to have an outdoor class at the back of Hamzah Sendut Library 2 to write a haibun. Haibun is a Japanese term used to describe a particular kind of text, basically about what you see and felt at the moment. It is somewhat like a combination of a short poems and prose. I had a hard time looking for the class so I resorted to calling up the lecturer himself. And he told me, "Yes, it is at the back of PHS2." When I told him I didn't see anybody, he told me "Yeah, got. We are at the back of the library now." So, I walked back there again and finally saw my other classmates and the lecturer himself. I guess this was the outcome of not taking your classmate's phone numbers. But luckily, I managed to mix with two seniors who were two friendly Malay girls, but too bad I haven't know their names and forgot to take their numbers. Huhu~! While we were sitting there drinking in the scenery to describe it, suddenly it started to rain. We all ran to the library's building for some protection.

I began to think about my last semester's class. No wonder I missed last semester's LSP class so much. Though I didn't know my classmates at first last semester, I managed to mix with them though majority were my seniors. But this LHP class, I didn't know that it was hard to break the ice as I felt like I am an intruder since the others are from BATI course and I was the only one from ELS.

Fine Friday

It was the CUS gathering day. I brough my camera as usual, so that I could take some pictures and upload them in CUS blog and also in facebook. *wink* We had a Rosary prayer conducted by the Santo Maria and the St Paul family. After the gathering, we managed to look at Duke's edited photo in facebook and it was hilarious as his hair were edited into an afro style and he looked quite different there. Reminded me of Jackson Five. LOL. Then, Juslin, Arthur, Step and me began to talk about "If only the next semester, the CUS Nite's theme is Afro Night, then it would be so hilarious and silly!" After that, I went straight to the Human Communication Lecture and I was early as the gathering today finished earlier than usual. ;) I was sleepy during the lecture and I could not wait to go back to hostel to catch up with my sleep.

CONCLUSION

In short, this wasn't the best week as there were several chaotic moments, but I was glad there were several comical moments which could cheer me up to make me through the week. Oh, gonna have lunch at Mel's house later, chao~!

* Insert Car Wash song, by Christina Aguilera feat Missy Elliott *

The date was 6th September 2009. It was a historical day. I went on a car wash under the CUS club at the Immaculate Conception church that day. The car wash was to raise fund for the CUS activities, especially the upcoming ICG camp. I woke up as early as 4.45 am because I was to check attendance for the members who will wait at the Sungai Dua station. My Gosh, it was damn cold showering early in the morning. I used to shower at 6 am and also around 5.3o am something but to shower at 4 something in the morning was like the champion of coldness. Thank God there were not many hostel mates who witnessed me shivering like crazy. Fuh~! I arrived at the Sungai Dua pondok as early as 6.15 am, and of course I was the first to be there. Then, there were only 5 people who turned up at the Sungai Dua station, because majority of the CUS members who participated in this car wash waited at the RST gate.

Around 7.30 am, we arrived at the Immaculate Conception church. The church was a beautiful church and it was quite a shame I never attended a Mass there. I usually went to the Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS) church, because it was the nearest church to USM.

Cheng Yee, Arthur, Marcela and me were responsible to lure the parishioners who attended the Mass to let us wash their cars. We were divided into groups, and my group only consist of four people, namely Clevellen, Eduard, Veraneeta and me. I was in a dilemma situation as I wanted to promise the customers that we would give them a good wash as I was aware that their expectations are high, as most of them were from wealthy background. It was a far different scenario compared to the parishioners at OLS church because most of us at OLS church came by buses instead of our own transportations. But thank God there were some of them who let us wash their cars merely for the donation purpose. Some even gave donation without us needing to wash their cars. The priest was the generous of all as he gave our club RM50 just to wash one car, and then he was the one who gave us permission to have a car wash activity going on there. ;) Thank you, Father!

We had a fun time washing the cars though tiring. Well, maybe I wasn't that tired compared to the others as I didn't really wash the cars because I had to search for customers. I was quite nervous because we were running out of time to finish washing the cars that time, but thank God some of the customers were not in a hurry to go back, so we had enough time to finish washing their cars. Phew~!

The scenario of the car washers, busy cleaning up the washing tools after finishing the activity.

Eduard @ Diva and Siaw Yan were posing as I took their pictures. Anyone interested to let them model your products in the future? ;)

Our happy faces after finishing the car wash. What an achievement. Hooray~!

We raised quite a lot of money for this car wash. Hopefully, there will be less financial worries for the ICG camp. ;)

On another note, I just wanted to mention about the fun night out every week with my sister and seniors after the Sunset Mass. I did not take this for granted though we do it quite often. Every moment spent together was to be treasured as I am aware that the next semester, we might not go to church together again as they would be involved in teaching practicals.

So, I immortalized this fun moment we had together last week here.

I'm soooo gonna miss you all the next semester!!!!! (*=*)

Lesson Plan for September 8th-11th

Top reason for being grateful about living at the top of Fajar building..

I guess, I always complained endlessly along with my roommate about living in the top floor of Fajar whenever we climbed on the stairs to reach for our room. Mind you, we lived in the 5th floor, and there's no elevator. So climbing up and down was our daily necessity.

But today, on 5th September 2009 midmorning (12 am), for the first time,I was thankful for the living at the top floor of Fajar. It was a blessing in disguise. Hehe. Why? Because *do it Justin Timberlake style as in My Love song* ---> it was easier to skip fire drill. Yup. That was the sole reason. Me and my roommate skipped the fire drill for the first time by switching off the lights. Nobody goes up to check on our room like what happened last time.

I do not deserve to carry the title of "Skema girl" from this moment onwards.

Facebook's book campaign!

It was just one of my silly gestures - to put this "posing with book" photo as my facebook's profile picture.

I thought, maybe, if I try to pose with the book of my hardest subject and put it as a profile picture in facebook, maybe I will get a blessing for doing it. Silly, right??

But to think it back, it wasn't that silly anymore since my sister's best friend was trying it out too. I thought she was joking but then she was serious. *touched*

She really did put it as her profile picture. :)

Urm, since I didn't ask for my sister's bestfriend's permission to put her photo in my blog, I have to edit this picture to protect her privacy. PS: I love you, Amy for believing in me. I hope you get a good result, especially in this subject, and get a good reward. Maybe many, many cash for getting 4 pointer in your exam. (*=*)

Never would people put a second thought on any of my theory, or the superstition that I created (eg: tell your cat not to go that far, "ho ho ah, be sai cin cai cau ah *insert cat's name*"before you let your cat go outdoor) before, including my own family.

But here, Amy, my sister's best friend participated along in my idea which may sound odd or even crazy, but we hope this experiment will come out with a good result. We wanted to make an experiment whether this posing-with-your-academic-book-as-a- profile-picture really works.

Now, it's just the two of us doing this book campaign, but coming soon, I will recruit my roommate too, to pose with her academic book as a facebook profile picture! Woo hoo~! I will include her unedited picture here after I asked for her permission. :)) She already posed with her book and will only upload it to her profile once she go back to her hometown since USM line is helpless.

Ok, so you doubt this theory.
Now, let me tell you logically why it would work.

*thinking mode*

Reason 1: Most of us log in to facebook daily. And of course we will see our own facebook profile photo everytime we log in to facebook. When you see the book that you are posing with, you will automatically be reminded of that subject, thus, you will feel guilty, then you will at least try to take a look at a few pages of the book. Logic, right? Hmmm.

Reason 2: Some of our lecturers may have facebook. So, if you happen to pose with the book of your lecturer's teaching subject, you are superlucky. Your lecturer will think that you did not take his/her subject for granted, thus will maybe give better attention to you, or even give you the tips for the exam!

There's nothing to lose, right? For posing with your book. Okay, even if it doesn't work, there's still a consolation awaiting you. Who knows maybe your junior from the same school will notice the book and try to purchase it from you in the future.

Hmm, not negative outcome, right?

Why don't you join this book campaign right now?

PS: I am just welcoming, no forcing here. LOL. This post existed due to this stressful week.
