While it's easy to assume sport utility vehicles orwagons are the best choices for comfortable winter driving--and a couple did make our list, like theSubaru Outback and Lexus LX--there are plenty of other types that more than qualify. Mendengar nama BMW M1, ingatan kita akan langsung bernostalgia pada sebuah mobil ikonik era tahun 1970-an. M1 dua pintu yang ceper itu, memang spektakuler pada zamannya. Tapi bukan M1 itu yang dipaparkan disini, melainkan versi Motorsport (M) dari Seri 1 yang baru saja diperkenalkan BMW di pertengahan Desember lalu.

Varian berperforma garang dari Seri 1 ini, mungkin sah-sah saja disebut M1. Namun, supaya tidak berbenturan, sekaligus menghormati maha karya M1 versi lawas legendaris, BMW lebih memperkenalkannya sebagai sosok Seri "1 M Coupe", Si Bad Boys yang semakin nakal.

BMW memang cukup gencar belakangan ini melontarkan varian M. Dan Seri 1 M Coupe termasuk generasi baru setelah sebelumnya pabrikan asal Jerman ini memperkenalkan M3. Sekaligus, inilah generasi pertama M pada anak bontot jajaran sedan Bimmer.

Seri 1 M Coupe lebih lebar 55mm dibandingkan 135i Coupe agar pengendaraan lebih dinamis. Karakter khas M diekspresikan melalui desain eksterior yang dramatis, seperti spoiler depan dan belakang yang unik, fender roda menonjol, velg alloy ekslusif Y-spoke 19-inci dan knalpot ganda berwarna chrome.

Lampu depan twin corona bi-xenon dan deretan LED bersanding dengan kaca spion luar ala M3. Sentuhan divisi M diteruskan dengan jok sport berbalut kulit Boston yang dihiasi jahitan warna oranye Kyalami.

Kulit Alcantra menyelimuti steer, trim pintu, tuas rem tangan, serta tuas transmisi yang sedikit kontras dengan jahitan warna oranye Kyalami. Logo M terdapat pada headrest depan.

Disesuaikan dengan selera pemakainya, BMW menyediakan 3 warna eksterior dalam hal ini, mulai dari Alpine White non-metallic, Black Sapphire metallic, dan Valencia Orange metallic.

Jantung mekanis 6-silinder segaris direct injection dengan turbo ganda dan double VANOS meletupkan tenaga 340 hp. Akselerasi 0-100 km/jam pun hanya terhentak dalam 4,9 detik.

Performa dasyat ini tercipta setelah insinyur M mentuning ulang turbonya yang mulai bekerja pada putaran mesin rendah, tanpa gejala turbo lag, sehingga tenaga puncaknya di dapat pada 5.900 rpm.

Fitur M Dynamic Mode (MDM), dapat aktif dengan memencet tombol di steer, yang membuat tenaga tersalur cepat, sehingga mobil Seri 1 M Coupe ini dapat melesat bagaikan sebuah roket.

Lupakanlah transmisi otomatis, karena Seri 1 M Coupe hanya tersedia dalam manual 6-speed. Biar bagaimanapun, ia tetap mobil sport yang buth emosi dan kepiawaian teknik ketika memindahkan gear transmisinya. Tentu itulah sensasinya.

Second Generation BMW 6-Series Convertible coming to India

BMW are now planning to launch the second generation of the 6-Series in the Indian market. The already existing BMW 6-Series Convertible has been a very niche product in India and it is expected that this new BMW 6-Series might look lower and flatter than the previous model.

This new 2011 BMW 6-Series Convertible, a luxurious coupe in the D+ segment features a 4799cc, 6 Cylinder, 4 Valve diesel engine which develops a maximum power of about 367 Bhp @ 6300 rpm and a maximum torque of about 490 Nm @ 3400 rpm. This new 2011 BMW 6-Series Convertible, with a 6-Speed Manual Gear transmission is said to have a top-speed of around 250 kms.

This new 2011 BMW 6-Series Convertible features a Double Joint Tie-Bar spring strut axle Suspension in it. It also provides a Ventilated Brake at the front and a Disk Brake at the rear. This new luxurious coupe, 2011 BMW 6-Series Convertible is expected to be launched by this month itself and might have a price tag of around Rs 94 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
