Mimi's Lamp Makeover!

Hi Everybody!

My name is Desirée

and I am the crazy heart behind The 36th Avenue ;)

The 36th Avenue.

As always I am so excited to be visiting Toni's blog and hang out with you amazing Design Dazzle readers, so let me show you what I've been up to.

For the last few weeks I've been working hard on trying to make our house a home,

{we just moved back a few weeks ago}

 and I am sharing with you today my very last project in this  journey:

Mimi's Lamp Makeover!

This is what I did...

I started with this:

The lamp base, the lamp shade, some yarn, an embellishment strip and spray paint...

and as you can see I love the colors.

However the lamp shade to me was a bit... boring.

You see... this lamps is going to Mimi's Room.

Yes...I have a sweet little girl that loves pink... and tutus... and pink...

and drama... and pink... and cutesy... and PINK!

Let me just show you who I am talking about...

So something had to be done...

{First}

I spray painted the lamp shade. I didn't want to paint it completely,

just enough to change the color from a bright pink to a softer tone.

{ Second }

After the paint dried I started to SPRAY glue the yarn horizontally all around the lamp shade. I sprayed as I went, little by little, section by section.

This step took me somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes...

If you do this project DON'T PANIC if you see glue all over the shade...

by the time you are done it will be all covered...

Cute, huh?

{Third}

I added the  pom-pom strip... You can find it at any fabric store.

I got mine at Wal-Mart with the yarn.

{ I love that the yarn has the three colors}

OK, back to the Tutorial...

So, all I did was to spray the glue carefully around the bottom edge of the shade to glue it...

{ Fourth }

It was time to sit back and enjoy the view...

So here it is... from ordinary to EXTRAORDINARY!

{ at least that is what my little Mimi thinks }

I would love for you to come visit The 36th Avenue  and see some other sweet tutorials, party with us and even  ideas from my Mimi's Room Makeover...

Toni, thank you so much for having me...♥

Summer Camp: 20 Ways To Use Pool Noodles

Design Dazzle Summer Camp starts today! For the next month, Monday - Friday we will post ideas and projects for summertime fun with kids! We have an amazing group of Camp Counselors (awesome bloggers) who will feature upcoming posts on great ideas and activities.

Summer Camp: 20 ways to use pool noodles:
Pool noodles are such cheap fun play things - in and out of the pool.  Pool noodles are made of polystyrene foam and are usually pretty inexpensive. I was at the Dollar Store recently and saw oodles of them. Here's a list of 20 ways to use pool noodles in and out of the pool...

My Little Gems came up with slicing pool noodles and using the pieces as a fun lacing and pattern activity.

Traveling on summer vacation and need a cheap and easy bed rail? Make a bed rail with pool noodles.

Pool noodle cut in half lengthwise makes for a fun race car track.

Use pool noodles and duct table to make jousting sticks.

Go here for complete instructions on how-to make a kids car wash using PVC pipe, pool noodles, etc.

A Harry Potter Quidditch tournament using pool noodles, hula hoops, etc looks like a lot of fun!

A cardboard box at the end of the marble race track catches all the marbles.

Practice your kicking skills with a goal post made of pool noodles.

A pool noodle, a garden hose and a couple of household items make a really cool sprinkler!

Make really cool shapes with Noodleblox connectors.

No-sew play cupcakes made with pool noodles.

Gather odds and ends around the house and have the kids make art with pool noodles. Show it off at the "art gallery".

Have a budding architect or engineer? Perfect chair project to try and figure out using pool noodles.

Pool noodles are a great idea for an obstacle course.

Make a floating pool shade for babies and little ones using pool noodles and pvc pipe.

Really...Pool Noodles???? Yep, this is a fake rock made with bits and pieces of foam pool noodles, covered in duct tape and wrapped with pantyhose.

Make a headboard out of pool noodles - works especially well for a beach themed room.

Last but certainly not least - a creative and very talented dad came up with some heavy duty extraordinary fun with pool noodles.

Do you have ideas or projects for summer time fun you would like to share with our readers? Fridays will be our linky party and giveaway day! All of the link-ups need to be related to summer fun with kids (babies, kids or teens). I will choose a few of my favorite links to feature over the weekend. Our first linky party will be this Friday July 1st.
