Designer Vintage Baby Nursery

Lauren Clark knows how to decorate a nursery. Not only did she create this designer vintage room for her little guy Solomon but she is also a professional photographer.  Her site Lauren Clark has more info on this stunning room and has a lot of wonderful photographs to check out.

I've been trying to figure out which details are my favorite - the license plate art, the baby mobile or the accents of red everywhere.  Hhhmm I think they all are! Wall color: Valspar's Crafted White

Lauren says, "I've been trying to decide on a baby mobile for the nursery and wanted to think up a new idea that I haven't seen before and make it myself. After thinking and browsing tons of etsy sites, it came to me: paper airplanes, and then comics and then a bike wheel to spin them all.



Here is what I've come up with. I will have to find a way to safely secure it to the ceiling since it weighs about 5 pounds, but I think it will make a cute mobile!



I bought 3 old comic books from an antique store for $2.50/each and used a glue stick to glue the comics to both sides of a thicker card stock paper. I had cut the paper in half for 3 larger airplanes and cut it into 1/4ths for the smaller ones. While the paper was still pliable from the wet glue I went ahead and folded them into a "Dart" airplane and let them dry.



I cut red ribbon and folded it in half and glued a loop into the top fold for something to string it through and then glued the bottom flaps down to look a little more manicured. The bicycle wheel is a 20 inch for a child's bike that I bought new at the little bike shop here for $24. I can't decide if I will spray paint the wheel or not, but this is the progress!"

Vintage Comic Book Nursery

I've never seen a vintage comic book theme nursery - but I do say I really like it! Such a colorful, FUN and unique nursery that is for sure! The nursery was a collaboration between both parents - she wanted vintage owls he wanted comic book...so vintage comic book it is! The Diary of a Dame blog is the "dynamic duo" behind the nursery.  Great job!

 The incredible custom art is all hand painted! Such a delightful boys nursery and very talented parents.

This easy to install and easy to remove comic book cover wall mural would look great on one wall of  a boys comic book room or playroom.

Black, White & Grey Boys' Room

Stacy the owner and designer of Name Your Design has created this neutral modern palette for her little guy. She started off with the modern Barnslig Park duvet from IKEA as the basis for the bedroom. Stacy describes the letter P, "The cardboard "P" was $3 on the clearance rack at JoAnn Fabrics. I turned it into a project for my 5-year-old and had him paint it for his baby brother. I really love how it looks as part of the photo collage above his bed." The big boy bed is ready for future use - when her son graduates from the crib.



The blue-gray paint color is called Jubilee #6248 by Sherwin-Williams.

Shabby Chic Vintage Nursery

Loving this sweet vintage, shabby chic nursery! Designed by Vicki for her daughter Sofia - Vicki was 9 months pregnant when she painted the tree mural. In a few years this room will transition nicely into a "big" girl room. According to Vicki: "I created this room for my daughter who was born Feb 1st, 09. I've always loved shades of "Tiffany" blue and I think that this room reflects that - Diamond Vogel paint, "Cobalt Blue". I am so happy with how the hand painted wall tree mural turned out. I taped (double sided tape) large fake peonies to the wall to add dimension. The leaves are gold metallic. I also added a peacock last minute. This was all painted in one day while 9 months pregnant! I finally got the Pottery Barn Catalina magazine wall rack that I've had my eye on for a year now (roughly $100). A previously used mirror from another location in the house serves as her dressor mirror (I think it was from Home Depot for about $99). It's a little larger than I think I would have liked ideally, but I've gotten used to it. Corner antique cream estate sale table $27. Two wall shelves $4 each, Hobby Lobby. A hand me down crib from Grandma's house (checked for safety of course), and the white dresser is from American furniture, roughly $350. Curtains are discontinued target Shabby Chic collection from Ebay. Chandelier $130. Brown side table, flea market find $30. Enjoy! The bumper and the fitted sheet are from Target from the Shabby Chic collection (no longer available)."

Grey & Yellow Modern Nursery

Using grey paint on the walls as the foundation creates a neutral backdrop for the yellow and black accents that help make the room pop. Baby Girl Nursery: Robin's Egg Blue & Red Color Combo

Aqua blue and cherry red are some of my favorite color combos.  Abbie of Five Days Five Ways

created this adorable nursery with many DIY projects for her sweet little girl.

1. What gave you the idea for the room? Anything special that inspired you?



  I LOVE fabrics, so when I found Alexander Henry's Starling fabric--the perfect whimsical bird-themed fabric with shades of red, aqua, and pink, pops of black and white, and just a hint of a retro feel--and knew I had to have it (this was at least two years before my daughter was even born). I ended up using the Starling fabric (in Natural) on her curtains and her bumper and everything came together after that.

2. What is the wall paint color and/or wallpaper brand/name? Any do-it-yourself projects?



Umm...YES! I made all of her bedding, her curtains, picked the fabric for/designed her rocker, made her butterfly mobile and her framed butterfly art, recovered her ottoman, and spray-painted practically everything I could get my hands on (including her chandy) Krylon's Banner Red. There are very few things in her room that I did not tweak and/or make.  What can I say? I'm a DIY fanatic! : ) Laura Ashley's Spruce Frost is the wall paint.

 3. Please share any bedding, art, furniture finds? What's your favorite purchase?  Any interesting facts our readers would want to know?



I bought her furniture (crib/dresser) as a matching set on Craigslist from a woman who used to own a children's boutique. The brand is Legacy. Her swivel/rocker was a mint green brocade nightmare that I bought for $25 on Craigslist (talked him down from $50!). I picked the fabric and had a local lady recover it (for a steal!). Just look at it now! It's definitely my favorite piece in the room!
