Bright Colorful Boy's Room

This room was designed for a five year old boy who loves Dr Seuss books. His parents didn't want a 'themed' room that he would quickly grow out of, but still wanted something colourful and fun for his age, that could be updated easily later. I was asked to keep the wall colour and timber blinds, and had to work with a budget of about (Australia Dollars) $200 for the accessories. I designed the bed which features a bookshelf, cubby house (under the bed), blackboard and a ladder to climb up. Whenever you visit you regularly find all the visiting kids squeezed inside the cubby playing games!  Dr. Seuss influenced boys room designed by Anna of My Design Ethos.

Cubbies painted in bright colors and filled with books and toys is perfect for under the bed storage.

The bed has a cubby underneath it which is accessed through a secret door.  The panel next to the blackboard has a small lever near the mattress which you pull to make the door open.



I love the creativity and practicality of this cubby hole bed, the secret door and play area under the bed!! Great job Anna!

Three Kids In A Room?? Try A Trio of Hanging Beds...

Such a cool, contemporary room for three boys'.  Not only do these beds look good, but they also save space and are practical.  The beds hang from the wall and ceiling with thick rope from metal hooks and are also bolted into the wall. Marian explains the inspiration for the room:

"After close to a year of looking for bunkbeds, and lots of brainstorming about built-ins, I saw Ana White's hanging daybed. I loved the rustic look and simplicity of the project. Knowing that the beds would take up a lot of space, I wanted to keep the rest of the room simple. I love the combination of modern and vintage, so I tried to have a bit of both in their room. The boys are all so different and have varying interests, it would have been hard to pull of a "themed" room. The colors evolved from the Kideko poster... all three of them rock! I wanted to give them a space that was fun and inviting, and a space that would grow with them." Images and info found via here.

Turn An Old Bed Into A Bench!

Loving this concept of refurbishing an old piece of furniture and making it into absolute fabulousness!  Using a headboard and a foot board, make several cuts and adjustments - voila...it becomes an adorable bench.

Kids' Built-in Beds

When I see beds like this it makes me feel like curling up with a good book. Built-in beds are perfect for kids rooms.  Kids bedrooms typically lack play area due to all the furnishings in the room and kids rooms are usually small. This bedroom set-up maximizes space - storage space becomes so efficient with built-ins.

Such an awesome western bunk room.
